Part-Time Maintenance, Groundskeeping & Event Support Associate

Job Summary

The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center (TCHCC) is seeking a dependable and motivated individual to assist with facility maintenance, groundskeeping, event setup, and general support of museum operations. This position plays an important role in ensuring our historic campus remains welcoming, safe, and attractive for visitors, members, and special events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Groundskeeping & Outdoor Maintenance

Mow, trim, and maintain museum grounds and landscaped areas

Assist with planting, watering, and seasonal beautification projects

Pick up litter and maintain clean outdoor spaces

Perform minor repairs to fences, signs, benches, and outdoor structures

Monitor and report maintenance needs throughout the property

Facility Maintenance

Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to buildings and exhibits

Assist with painting, cleaning, and preservation projects

Set up and break down tables, chairs, tents, displays, and equipment

Monitor facility cleanliness and assist with custodial duties as needed

Help maintain tools, equipment, and storage areas

Event Support

Assist with preparation and setup for festivals, weddings, tours, educational programs, and special events

Support event operations during Heritage Fest, Mayfest, and other major activities

Assist vendors, exhibitors, volunteers, and visitors as needed

Help with parking, signage placement, and crowd flow during events

Support exhibit installations and museum programming

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, construction, landscaping, or related field preferred

Ability to safely operate lawn equipment and basic hand tools

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions

Strong work ethic and reliability

Friendly and professional attitude when interacting with visitors and volunteers

Valid driver's license preferred

Preferred Skills

General handyman or maintenance experience

Experience operating tractors, mowers, or landscaping equipment

Event setup and logistics experience

Knowledge of historic preservation or museum environments is a plus
